Employers Must Use New I-9 Form Starting January 22, 2017

USCIS has announced that it will publish a revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, by January 22, 2017. Employers may continue using Form I-9 dated March 8, 2013, through January 21, 2017. Not later than January 22, 2017, employers must use the new, revised (yet-to-be published) form. Employers should continue to retain and store previously completed forms for current and former employees in accordance with USCIS retention guidelines.

Our law firm offers I-9 and E-Verify compliance and “best practices” counseling, as well as informal internal I-9 audits followed by training sessions tailored to each employer’s needs, based on the results of the internal I-9 audit. We also represent employers who have been served by ICE with Notices of Intent to Fine (NIF) or I-9 documentation subpoenas.
