USCIS Announces That the H-1B Fiscal Year 2025 Cap Has Been Met

On August 5, 2024, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the agency conducted a second round of H-1B lottery drawings and had selections to reach the 65,000 “regular cap” for fiscal year 2025.  The agency did not draw any additional registrations for the 20,000 “master’s cap” pool because it received sufficient petitions from the first round lottery earlier this year to fill that quota.  If a registration was submitted under the master’s cap, then it was also automatically included in the regular cap pool.  Accordingly, USCIS issued “Selection Notices” to each registrant who was picked in the second round “regular cap” lottery, and the notices appeared in the employer’s and attorney’s online USCIS account.  Our firm has notified all registrants selected in the second round whom we represented this year.  USCIS has not yet issued “Non-Selection” notices, but when it does those will appear in the accounts as well and we will forward them to our clients.

The H-1B numerical limits are determined by Congress. If your case was not selected this year, we encourage you to reach out to your representatives in Congress and demand comprehensive immigration reform to include an increase in the number of H-1B visas, or a removal of the cap entirely.
