ADHS Recruitment Requirements for J-1 Waiver Applications

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) requires sponsoring employers to recruit for U.S. physicians at least six (6) months prior to making an application for a J-1 waiver. If you are planning to hire a J-1 physician for the next fiscal year, you must ensure that you document your company’s recruitment efforts placed prior to June 3, 2025 (April 4, 2025 if you wish to file on October 1st)Any ad placed within the 6-month period immediately preceding the submission of the J-1 waiver application will not be considered by ADHS.

            Our office can assist you with placing two acceptable advertisements for a fixed legal fee of $275 plus the cost of the publication. Please contact us by March 21, 2025 if you require assistance to place your advertisement. If you opt to place your own advertisements, please send us dated copies of the ads for your file.

Conrad 30 J-1 waiver applications for physicians starting work in 2026 will likely be due to ADHS between October 1, 2025 and November 30, 2025. Only physicians who provide direct patient care, whether specialty or primary care, are eligible for J-1 waivers.  Please contact our office if you have questions regarding J-1 wavier applications or any other immigration matter.
